Tetrabromobisphenol A bis(2,3-dibromopropyl ether), often abbreviated as BDDP, is a flame retardant chemical compound used to improve the fire resistance of a wide range of materials. It is a member of the brominated flame retardant family, and its chemical structure is derived from Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA) with the addition of bis(2,3-dibromopropyl ether) groups. It is highly effective in reducing the flammability of various materials by interfering with the combustion process. When exposed to heat or flames, it releases bromine radicals that inhibit the spread of fire.
